Chocolate Walnut Cookies

Very similar to the banana chocolate chip cookies, these cookies are soft, chocolaty, and packed with protein.  Using almond flour as a base, rather than refined wheat flour, these cookies are bursting with post-workout protein and chocolaty decadence!  By swapping out the walnuts for chocolate chips you can make yourself a double chocolate, chocolate chip cookie.  Mmmmmm.


1-2 mashed ripe bananas 
3 tablespoons almond butter 
1 teaspoons vanilla extract 
1 teaspoon baking powder
4 Tbsp cocoa powder
½ teaspoon ground cinnamon 
Pinch of Salt 
1 cup almond flour 
2 scoops chocolate protein powder
¼ cup chopped walnuts

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  

With a mixer, combine mashed banana, almond butter, vanilla, baking powder cinnamon, and salt. 
In a separate bowl, mix together almond flour, protein powder and cocoa powder.  Add to wet mixture, along with walnuts and stir until all ingredients are combined.  Using a spoon (and greased hands to help the batter not to stick) form into balls, place on cookie sheet and press cookies slightly flat on top.  Bake for 11-14 minutes or until cookies are firm to touch. Remove from oven and transfer to a cooling rack.  This recipe makes 9 cookies.

Serving Size:  One cookie as a snack or two cookies post workout
